Sa Huynh Salt Field

Sa Huynh salt copper has an area of over 110ha, 60km from Quang Ngai City to the southernmost of the province. The salt industry here has long been a livelihood for about 600 households and preserved many cultural beauties in labor and production of craft villages.  

In the early days, the sea was clear, the sun was beautiful when Sa Huynh salt field was white and white. Here, visitors will hear the stories of sun and rain, the process of making salt, feel the salty taste of the sea, the salty and sweaty taste of salt farmers pouring into the fields ... According to the historians and Sa Huynh salt co-workers have from the nineteenth century. Over nearly 100 years, but the method of making salt of Sa Huynh saltman still retains the tradition as an early age.

From the third lunar month when the sea waves are calm, the water is clear and green, the tide rises and falls in cycles, also when farmers go out to make salt. After flat farming, from 5 am, the salt farmers were on the field to carry out the salt making process. Based on the rising tide, the brigades lead water from the canals and ditches into the water reservoir and release it gently into the field. After the water is evenly covered with small fields, wait for the sun to get salt water to crystallize into salt. Want salt grain white, big, shiny in the afternoon sun, salt farmers have to watch the water through three sunshine and when salt fields are dry, then harvest.

If the geologic and geomorphologic area of Ly Son - Sa Huynh is recognized by UNESCO as a Global Geopark, Sa Huynh salt field will also be one of the destinations for tourists to explore. It is located in the geopark tourist route, along with experiencing the salt making process of Sa Huynh brigade.

Here, visitors can visit pottery village, mound Ma Vuong or go to see artifacts at Sa Huynh Cultural Gallery. Everyone will feel like they are living in an ancient space seamlessly connected to today.
